If you are into the antique barrister bookcase market, you know the term Globe Ideal. The Globe Wernicke company (a competitor of Macey and others) made many fine styles of barrister bookcases (sometimes called lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase) but none rival their 'Ideal' model. With fancy carving, columns, and serpentine front, they were not rivaled in the sectional bookcase market. Note the following in this quartered oak unit: dentil molding along top, beveled glass on all doors, step out base with drawer, raised panel sides including the base, fancy carvings on top and bottom ends. Very fancy bull nose top and sculptured bottom; original leopard metal side bands. Original finish and hardware. The unit has two different graduated size stacks and the entire bookcase is in exceptional condition---(note the top left section is missing a pillar---see photo). Dimensions of the stacks are 35 1/2 wide and 14.5 deep. The bottom two stacks are 12.5 high, the next two stacks are 10.5 high. The overall size of the bookcase is 35 1/2 wide, 14 1/2 deep, and 60 high. The 'Cadillac' of the antique barrister bookcase market!
