This is one of the oldest tall case grandfather clocks I have ever offered for sale. Signed on the dial BASTIEN HANS MAFAIT 1769, the case is beautifully carved quartered oak. The case has carved swag, urn, flowers, and vase in an overall organic motif. The door and sides are nicely paneled and the bonnet top is pierced carved. The dial is brass and silver with intricate incising. Interesting movement with the time and strike (bell strike) controlled by one train, and hence, one lead weight. Consequently, this should run the clock as a 30 hour piece I would say. As always with my clocks, this clock has been serviced and is currently running properly. A beautiful and unusual early tall case clock, 92 high, 18 wide, and 10 deep.
