This is a late 19th century bronze fernery. Would have been used for plant display in the fashionable home of the time; like we might use a jardiniere or flower pot. The bronze fernery with maidenís head medallions on the front and back, large shields on the sides with hanging garland, has a fluted body and acanthus leaf corbels at the base; retains its original metal insert, has a medium brown patina. Good heavy piece with fine detail work. Use for your plants or whatever. In very nice overall condition. 11 in. high x 9.5 in. dia.
