This is a good tall case grandfather clock circa 1840 with round gilt steel dial with Roman numerals, unsigned with black painted floral decoration, seconds dial above and calendar dial (not working) below center with original steel hands. Gong strike. Scottish, and usually called a drumhead because of its round style top. Carved mahogany case with bonnet having round door with nicely carved floral crest and supports. Tapered waist with carved acanthus leaf carved scrolled corners and arch top glass door. Base with applied molding on front and mahogany cross banded edge, flat to floor in appears original varnish finish, pine secondary wood, 18 1/4 x 9 x 80" high. Serviced and currently running properly.
