A very fine pair of bronze states by Auguste Joseph Peiffer (1832-1886, France). Peiffer exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1865 to 1879. The Musée Antoine Vivenel at Compiègne hold his statuettes of Arab playing the mandolin and Arab playing the tambour. This pair of bronze sculptures of mythological figures Ceres and Juno, standing beside columns. Ceres with a rooster and cornucopia, Juno with a peacock and scepter. Excellent medium brown patina and both are in good condition, signed Peiffer. 20 in. high x 9.5 in. wide x 7 in. deep. Note fine detail in casting and excellent acquired patina.
