This is quite a nice early carved French salt box. I was told by a fellow dealer that this particular style was normally used for flour but am not sure of that. I would judge maybe mid 19th century. In excellent condition although it appears it once had finials which are now missing. The front door lifts and slides up which is rather a unusual method. All hand carved; note serpentine sides. Overall size is 16 high, 6.5 wide, and 4.0 deep.
